About Us

Sharper-Knives.com provides custom made knife sharpening and maintenance products.  I currently offer two  product categories:  1)"Wa Wax" which is a food safe, completely edible blend of pharmaceutical grade mineral oil and 100% natural beeswax, and is designed to enhance, protect and preserve wooden cutting boards, knife handles and sayas; and, 2) Strops:  I currently am making magnetic backed leather and rock hard felt strops which are designed to easily mount on and be removed from either the back or front side of DMT8 Diasharp diamond plates.  These easily removable magnetic backed leather and felt strops turn your DMT plate into an ultra flat strop base without interfering with its functionality as a sharpening or flattening stone.  I can also make these magnetic backed leather or rock hard felt strops in various other sizes to fit on other magnetic style bases.  Also I make rectangular wood mounted leather strops in various sizes and some unmounted leather is available.
Company history
Our "company," which is just me, is just getting going in mid 2009 so nothing much to say about our history at this point.  I'll update this section when I have something relevant to say.

Peter, the person behind Sharper-Knives.com, is a frequent poster on the "In the Kitchen" forum on Knifeforums.com, as well as "Fred's Cutlery Forum" on FoodieForums.com under the user name "mongatu."

"Hi Peter,

I was away from my office last week, just opened your package with the Rock Hard Felt.

Fantastic quality. . . . . . many thanks for finding and offering this product.

Regards,

FK"

"I just got my 16 inch strop from Peter of sharper-knives.com.  It took a while, but it wasn't Peter's fault.  The mail system in my country (Philippines) really sucks.  The package spent a month in transit and another month in processing.

Best strop I have ever used.  The firmness and porosity of the leather, the great feel and size of the strop all contribute to making it so easy to get the most crisp edge possible.  Ever since I first reviewed Adam's #2 (Metal Polish), I've been raving about how it creates literally (free-hanging!) hair-slitting (on a push cut!) edges.  Peter's strop combined with #2 just makes it effortless."
